Olive Oil is the only oil I have in my kitchen. And, it’s in my bathroom! I have really dry skin. After years of battling it with expensive moisturizers that contained olive oil, I finally thought, duh, why not just use olive oil? After using olive oil for about a week, the look and feel of my skin had improved. I now use olive oil as a body moisturizer, eye make-up remover, under eye cream and hair conditioner. Yes, it can be a bit greasy, but for those with dry skin or split ends, we need the moisture.
How to use it:
- Moisturizer: Apply after your shower to wet skin. This will help to seal in the moisture and give you a less greasy feel. If it doesn’t absorb, you may need to wipe some of it off before you get dressed. A little goes a long way.
- Eye make-up remover: Just dab a little on a cotton pad and make sure to avoid your eye. Usually, enough oil is left behind, giving me an under eye cream at the same time! Perfect before bedtime when my skin is busy regenerating itself.
- Hair conditioner: For frizzies, take a very small amount of oil, warm it on your hands and apply to your ends. This helps to tame a wild hair day while moisturizing your split ends.
Today’s tip: Buy the best oil you can. Organic Extra Virgin is the least processed, with the highest levels of Vitamin E and antioxidants. Store the bottle in a cabinet; bright light will destroy the antioxidants.
